There's a new Ice Cream shop in Eagle Rock and I've got a feeling that you will luv it!
The ice cream shop, Luv, is the newest addition to the many small businesses blooming around Eagle Rock. On August 31st, they had their grand opening, and today, business is already booming. I was greeted with a warm welcome and a line that nearly reached the door. Bright neon colors and lights created a whimsical environment which perfectly complemented buying some ice cream, and it overall made my experience much more enjoyable. Even though the shop is inspired by 80s and 90s aesthetics, it brought me back to the summer of 2016 with its bright colors and loud patterns. It was a blast and had that warm feel you see in so many Eagle Rock small businesses.
Because there aren't a lot of locally owned ice cream shops in Eagle Rock, Luv’s brings
something refreshing to the neighborhood that we haven't seen in a while. Eagle Rock has many sweet treat businesses - Colorado Donuts, Fosters Freeze, and Ruby Bakery - but Luv's brings something different to the scene. Although I do enjoy all of those places, Luv’s is a sit-down, family-friendly ice cream shop that welcomes all members of the community.
Although the ambiance is warm, welcoming and out of the ordinary, the ice cream flavors don’t quite reflect the design of the shop. Due to the vibrant colors and wacky vibe of the shop, I was expecting unique flavors that I couldn’t find anywhere else.
In reality, these flavors were quite ordinary. The menu featured some classic flavors, like chocolate and vanilla, and sprinkled in some semi-niche flavors, like salted caramel and green tea. Although there were a handful of fun flavors, the amount of them was underwhelming and didn’t meet my high expectations.
I chose salted caramel and got one scoop in a cup for 5.25. I was pleasantly surprised, not only was the scoop pretty big but it was really yummy! Although I was expecting whimsical flavors to match the vibe, I still absolutely loved this flavor, which differed from your ordinary salted caramel. The creamy texture was exactly what I expected from my ice cream sweet treat, but it stayed away from being too heavy or sweet.
Overall, I would recommend Luv Ice Cream to anyone in the Eagle Rock neighborhood and encourage you to snap a couple of pics while you're at it.
Very overpriced, I got the same thing and was left empty, as if I didn't enjoy the small amount of this ice cream place. I would recommend Handel's ice cream. It is incredibly good and you can get 4 times that in one box for only $6.25! I recommend the "Monkey Business" flavor (banana ice cream with brownie chunks and caramel).
