Did you know that our school and local library offer lots of free resources to help students and families succeed? From transportation to academic support, career preparation, and even cultural enrichment, these programs are designed to ensure access to essential opportunities. Here’s what’s available:

Transportation Support

Our school provides a free Metro GoPass to students, making it easier to get to school, libraries, internships, or any other destinations. This resource is invaluable for saving money and ensuring students can reach opportunities across the city, as well as being able to hang out with friends around the city. I use mine regularly to get coffee with friends and visit the Pasadena Farmers’ Market.

Academic Assistance

If you’re looking for academic support, both the school and the library have you covered. The school offers access to Tutor.com, an online platform where students can get personalized help in various subjects. Additionally, the library provides free online tutoring for all ages, helping students tackle difficult assignments and improve their understanding. Through the Student Success Card, students can also check out books, movies, and music to supplement their learning for free! I used Tutor.com for several weeks in 7th grade because I was too anxious to go to the library for in person tutoring and it was decently helpful and definitely helped me pass science.

Career and College Prep

Planning for the future? The library hosts job resources, training sessions, and career prep workshops that are free and open to the public. There are also college and career workshops designed to guide students through applications, resumes, and interviews. These programs provide essential tools for anyone preparing to enter the workforce or pursue higher education.

Events and Cultural Enrichment

Libraries are more than just places to read, they’re community hubs. Throughout the year, they host events and programs for all ages, from storytimes to coding workshops. For students over 18, the library offers free museum visits to participating institutions, giving you a chance to explore art, history, and science without breaking the bank. (Check out free museum days for everyone here.) I went to the Norton Simon museum a while ago and it was super fun, though they don’t let you bring wet art supplies. I still had a lot of fun sketching.

Don’t forget to make the most of these resources by exploring what’s available through the school office or your local library branch. Programs like these can save time, money, and stress while helping students and families achieve their goals. Take advantage of what’s out there--you’ll be surprised how far these free resources can take you!
