I think we can all agree that pets and their owners are similar and make each other's lives thrive. While Jessica and Mochi may be different species and creatures, they are connected and have special places in their hearts for each other. I think everyone can agree with me on the fact that pets are their owners in animal form and can bring so much joy into their lives. With playful personalities and spunky attitudes, they can be the best source of comfort after a long day.
Most, if not all, of us have something special to us. Whether it be a simple object or trinket with sentimental value, Jessica Calaguas has something that is worth more than any of that— and her name is Mochi. Mochi is a Tabby cat who came into Jessica and her family's life and quickly became more than just a pet. She is not only cute and soft but has a big, bright personality that makes her shine.

When She Was Adopted
Mochi, who was adopted in July of 2022, has brought so much happiness to Jessica and her family. As a new addition to the household, she was understandably nervous about her unfamiliar surroundings. "I remember holding her, and her being so small, she was so cute," Jessica recalls. Mochi was only six weeks old at the time and small enough to fit in the palm of her hand. Now, she has grown and continues to teach Jessica valuable life lessons.
Having any pet is a big responsibility, and with Mochi, Jessica has learned how to take care of her and tend to her needs. Whether it be feeding her, playing with her, or tending to her needs, Jessica is always there to take care of Mochi.

Traits and Personality
Jessica describes Mochi as a curious and quirky cat. "She’s just so weird. She smells everything, especially cardboard, but she's scared of boxes," Jessica shares with a laugh. Mochi has a playful personality filled with funny quirks—like being frightened by the very boxes she loves to nibble on.
With her bright, piercing green eyes and striped coat from head to tail, Mochi is undeniably adorable. I might be biased when I say this, but she's the cutest cat I've ever seen. Despite her bold nature at home, Mochi can be shy around new people. "Whenever we have guests over, she hides immediately. One time, she ran under the couch and stayed there the entire time," Jessica recalls. "I felt so bad because she was so nervous." Mochi also like to be in some odd places. “She has a weird obsession with going on my mom's keyboard and sitting on it.” Not only that, But Mochi also seems to love this specific green couch.

Memorable Moments
One of Jessica's most memorable moments with Mochi was when they first brought her home. "One of the first things she did was run behind the laundry machine," she remembers, laughing at the memory.

Over time, Mochi grew more comfortable and started showing her affectionate side. "I went to take a nap one day, and I suddenly heard these cries and meows outside my door. I opened it, and there she was, wanting attention," Jessica says. As time went on she got more and more comfortable with her new home and grew to love it. Mochi is a sweet cat who loves affection and being around Jessica and her family.
However, the most unforgettable (and funny) moment came on Jessica's 16th birthday. "She came up on my lap and farted—it stank." Jessica laughs. "It was the first and last time she's ever farted on me.” Talk about a memorable and smelly birthday present.

Mochi has undoubtedly become a beloved member of Jessica's family, bringing joy, laughter, and important lessons along the way. Through their bond, Jessica has not only learned how to care for a pet but also how much love and happiness a cat can bring into a home.
