Since 2020 there have been quite a few new teachers, one of those teachers being Mr. Gudex, an english teacher. His class is on the second floor, room 201, and he teaches 9th graders. He started teaching at ERHS because he loves the Eagle Rock community, which he is a part of, and wants to make a difference in his neighborhood. However, this is not where his teaching career began.
Mr. Gudex went to college at the University of Wisconsin for his undergraduate degree then at the University of Phoenix for his graduate degree. His interest in literature began because he loved to read and write. Since then his love for this subject has grown. Shortly after college he started working as a teacher. The most recent school he previously worked at is Sun Valley Magnet school. He has taught for 18 years. Like all of us, though, he has a life outside of school.
Mr. Gudex shares a home with his husband of 20 years, whose name is Ed, and two dogs named Poppy, who is 4, and Cooke, who is 15. He was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He grew up with two siblings, both younger than him, which he appreciated because he was able to learn from them just as much as they learned from him. He has many interests and hobbies such as exploring art around the city, hiking with his dogs, and gardening. However, his favorite thing to do is coloring or putting a puzzle together because of the feeling of accomplishment he gets when he completes it. Something he has always wanted to do is become fluent in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish so he can communicate with more people and have a better understanding of a new language.
Overall, Mr. Gudex is a joyful person who creates a fun and welcoming environment. He became a teacher to make a positive difference in the world and that's what he is doing. He has a colorful personality and is one of the nicest people at ERHS.
Loved this article — Mr. Gudex is an *amazing* teacher and I’m so glad he’s at Eagle Rock. This photo really captures him, too.
